Photo tricks and trick photography
Photo Tricks and Trick Photography
Welcome to ExperimentalPhoto.com this is hopefully the start of many great things to come… I know there are way too many blogs out there with just one or two entries, and I plan on not letting this become one of them. My goals for the start of 2009 will be to post articles, reviews and how-tos that focus on things like forced perspective, hdr, turning day into night (and vice versa), creative specular highlights and bookah, perspective distortion, painting with light, multiple exposures, some post-processing tips and a whole lot more. While a lot people may feel that trick photography may be cliche and over done. It’s my opinion that it adds fun and interest to otherwise stale and boring photo albums.
I doubt you will and even discourage you from filling an entire album with just tricks, but I find that a trick here or there will keep your viewer interested and the creative exercise in pulling off the trick will make you a better photographer. My aim is to give you a lot of tools that are easily accessible regardless of skill level so that you can start filling your albums and portfolios with more creative results. And who knows, you’re probably better than I am in one form of photography or another and maybe we can learn something new from each other… just leave a comment. If there is something in particular you want tackled first let me know.
Regards,
Jesse

I’m greatly surprised that this domain was even available. I really need to get my butt in gear with my dead web design tricks n tips site. I want to turn it into a blog/article thing as well.
So will we see any HDR photography in the mist of things? I’m totally into this! I can’t wait for the posts to start coming in and trying it out.

Thanks for the post Alison, I plan on doing some HDR, but my first articles are probably going to be the Photoshop method, and possibly the faking it method. I really liked the trial I had of Photomatix. It made it really easy to get great results, but a full copy of that has to take a back seat to some other things on my wishlist.

Thanks for calling me out on my own hypocrisy. =)
I have lots of notes for future articles, but I haven’t taken the time to take/find complementary photos and gel them into something good. If there’s anything you want to see/learn about… let me know. It might just be the kick in the pants that I need (at the very least I can offer some pointers).
